Answering Questions

I've had a few questions that I thought I'd try to answer here.

Probably the most asked to date - Are you tired of traveling?

Both of us are still enjoying the travels. We've decided to head back west for the rest of the winter and then we will most likely head home for the summer.

Do you miss your family at home?

Yes, we do miss our family. We were lucky to have my mom, Leah, and Brad visit us and spend Thanksgiving with us and my brothers family in Texas but we do miss Chris and his family very much. We are hoping we can get Jays mom to come and spend a few days with us somewhere along the way but it will most likely have to be when we are back on the west coast.

Is is difficult pulling the RV?

We haven't had too much of an issue with the RV. We've been in a few tight spots mainly because I had the GPS set to getting us to our destination by the shortest driving route. Once I set it to getting us there in the faster route we have stayed on the main roads. We haven't hit any real strong wind or snow so it's been pretty easy going. We are not the fastest when going over the passes but the truck does a great job getting us up and down the other side. Gas mileage sucks.

Do you wish you had a smaller RV?

Yes and no. Since we are living in the RV we are glad it is large. If we were just traveling in it we could definitely do with a smaller rig, possibly even just a camper and pulling our bikes in a small trailer behind us. This would allow us to fit into smaller campgrounds. With the RV we have we really need to do the RV parks which is a lot less like camping. It would be nice to be able to sit outside around a campfire more often.

How is it living in such a small space?

Believe it or not, we are doing quite well in this small space. We really haven't had many day that we can sit outside either so it's mostly all indoors. I think the floor plan we have really makes it feel like a small cabin instead of a hallway. We usually are the only people in the park without a pet of some kind. I think if we didn't have the bikes we would definitely have a pet.

How do you like living on the road?

So far it's been OK, not great. I always have reservations at an RV park in the next city we plan to stop in which kind of takes the pressure off. Others we know don't have reservations and call the park an hour or so before they arrive. At this point we feel better knowing we have a place before we get there. We had hoped to do more riding but so far the weather has not cooperated. It's been fun to meet others along the way who are doing this same thing though - there are more than we ever imagined. We are hoping that once we get settled in Arizona for a few months we will be able to get more riding in, then it will be great.
